Come take a Poll?

I need to find out what people prefer in their handmade soaps. Since I make my soaps from scratch and don't use Melt and Pour soaps that often I want to get an idea of what you want when you look for soaps. Please take my quick poll. I would really appreciate it.

1000 Sales !!!

Yes this is true. I have reached my 1000th sale at my Etsy shop. Wow I thought I would never see this day since last year was very slow. But I finally did it and you have no idea how happy I am to reach that 1000th mark. My 1000th customer received free shipping and free lip balms. I really couldn't have done it without my customers. They are the ones that hung in there and supported me and loved what I have to offer. So for those loyal and new customers, I want to personally thank you for making this possible and I will continue to bring you quality bath and body products.

Much thanks

Where Have I Been?

I know, I know it has been a long time since I last posted and it is not like me to not post for this length of time. With so much going on in my life like with family, and all the social networking it can be overwhelming and I can't get to everything. Sometimes I feel that if I don't keep up on all the social networking to keep my name visible, I will go down in a ball of flames especially now a days when everyone is losing their jobs and not many people wanting to spend money.

When I moved last year in July 08, I pretty much stopped everything for over 6 weeks. My husband and I bought a new home so you know how draining that can be and how buying a home can wear you out. It was so hard getting my website back up and running, My Etsy shop and other venues where I have been selling on. I felt like everyone forgot about me. My sales dropped so bad that I considered shutting everything down, because I just couldn't bounce back from it. Then you start to doubt yourself.

All this from being gone for 6 weeks. It was like trying to start over from scratch. It is a shame that I felt that I had to constantly be seen in and around the internet to maintain my business. It took its toll on me and still does. I feel I have to continue to do what everyone else is doing just to keep up and stay seen "ok breathe deeply now" :-)

These are just some of the networking sites I currently belong to

1. Plurk
2. Using Twitter
3. Have a Facebook account
4. Myspace
5. Social groups like We Love Etsy, Indepublic and soaper groups.
5. Being on handmade craft sites
6. being active in the forums. I have seen so many people hanging out in Artfire, and Etsy forums and its always the same people all day. I call the forum whores. They hang out there all day hoping to get a sale from someone just by being in there. LOL
7. Ebay social groups

These are the sites I once had all at once.

Shophandmade
madeitmyself
Handmadefuzion
Silkfire
Bonazle
Artfire
Etsy
website
craftmall
Ushop
Bluejay
Ecrater
Loudfrog

and the list goes on and on. I just can't keep up anymore. I literally had to give up some being on these sites because it was just too much I mean I was seriously burning out and can't possibly keep all of these things going. So I ditched the sites where they were just not making any sales or receiving an views. I am down to just Artfire, my website, Etsy and Bonanzle.

Can someone say Calgon take me away!!!! Ok I got a headache just thinking about all of that LMAO.

But I NEVER gave up and my husband told me to hang in there and stay strong and I did and I eventually bounce back. I am here to stay so get use to my name because I won't be going anywhere anytime soon not if I can help and I will always produce the best products I can possibly make for my customers.

I have been busy though making new soaps, some old but goodies are back like my Sea Salt Body Polisher, and the Bath Time Soap Jelly which is my favorite for the Spring and Summer. I have a few more items that I will be introducing soon and some other things that I will be discontinuing. So it is a process trying to decide these things. My website is temporarily down because I will be redesigning it again for the warmer months. So that is what I have been up to lately. Thanks for hangin in there with me :-)

Stay tuned!

March Is Here! Yeah

March is finally here and I am so looking forward to the Spring. But today is coming in like a Lion. Cold weather and some snow is coming for us. Late but it is coming. If the snow arrives tonight like it says it is, it will be the second snow fall of the year. I know that is nothing compared to what the rest of the country has gotten all year but to us, that is a lot. Our winters here in the DC area has been either mild or hardly any snow fall in the past few years and any sign of just a little snow is exciting.

So what is coming this month? New soaps Yeah! I have been in a slump lately and sales have been on the down slope for the past month or so. Some sales but can't say NO sales. I guess some is better then nothing at all but I am confident that things will pick up again. I won't give up. As long as I am out there and can be found I will be around.

A sneak peek at some up coming soaps for this month. The whipped soaps will be ready at the end of the month and the Hot process is ready now but I like for them to sit for about a week or two.

So with that said, This is a new Hot Process soap called Brown Sugar & Fig. Smells delicious and lathers wonderfully. I am excited about the Hot Process soaps. Although they don't have the swirls and fancy colors. The lather is much creamier and the scents are much bolder. I will start to make more and more of these soaps as it seems to me much easier to just cook the soap then to let them sit for 4-6 weeks. They are ready to use because the soap is cooked in the oven.

This soap is called Lychee Red Tea. A Hot Process soap. This was made with so many wonderful oils such as soybean, almond oil, palm oil, coconut oil, and mango butter. The lather is rich and creamy and the scent is nice. This will sit for about a week but they are ready to be used. I know many customers prefer their soaps to be colorful with the fancy swirls and designs but I want my soaps to work wonders on your skin and impress you with the way they look. Hot Process soaps are just awesome. I love the rustic old fashion look that they present and give the soap a real authentic look of soap.

Whipped Cold Process Soap

This is what the whipped soap looks like when the lye and all of the oils have been whipped together. At this stage it is ready to be colored and scented.

This is how the soap looks after it has been put into the mold. At this point it is very soft to the touch. It takes about 2 days for this soap to firm up. This one of the other whipped soap that I finished called Cool Springs

This is soap is called Whipped Moonlight Path. Very light and airy, floats on water, and also has great lather. I don't think I have made a soap that did not lather well. LOL. This type of Whipped soap was never meant to look edible, its just that they are whipped for a long time to this really light fluffy texture to give the soap a yummy look. So don't let the beauty of this soap put you off from getting it because it smells wonderful and will do wonders for your skin.
