Non Toxic Homemade Cleaning Products

This was sent to me and I want to share this with you. I thought these were neat ideas for homemade cleaning products.

All Purpose Cleaner:

1) Vinegar and Salt. Mix together for a good surface cleaner.

2) Baking Soda. Dissolve 4 tablespoons baking soda in 1 quart warm water for a general cleaner.

3) Baking soda on a damp sponge. Baking soda cleans and deodorizes all kitchen and bathroom surfaces.

4) Use liquid castile soap and baking soda or Borax in different ratios. Use a little soap and soda/borax with lots of water on floors, walls and counters. Use more soap, soda/Borax for tubs sinks, cat boxes, anything that can be well rinsed.

5) For a general, all-purpose cleaner, try a paste made from baking soda and water or mix salt and water with a little vinegar.

6) 3 tbsp. vinegar, 1/2 tsp. washing soda, 1/2 tsp. vegetable oil based liquid soap, 2 cups hot water. Mix ingredients in spray bottle or bucket. Apply and wipe clean.

Metal Cleaners:

Silver:

1) Use toothpaste instead of toxic silver cleaner to clean and brighten even your best silver. Use an old soft bristled toothbrush and warm water.

2) Rub with a paste of baking soda and water.

3) To magnetize tarnish away, soak silver in salted water in an aluminum container; then wipe clean.

4) Soak in boiling water, baking soda, salt, and a piece of aluminum foil.

5) When a quick dip for silverware is needed, prepare a solution of baking soda in tepid-cool water (l level teaspoon to a quart) and
brush with a soft toothbrush.

Brass:

1) Mix equal parts salt and flour with a little vinegar, then rub.

Chrome:

1) Rub with undiluted vinegar.

Copper:

1) Rub with lemon juice and salt, or hot vinegar and salt.

Stainless Steel:

1) Rub with a paste of baking soda and water.

Need A New Way to Advertise Your Business?

I am sure I am not the only person that have this idea but I found an inexpensive way to advertise your business. My car! Yeah we all have seen a lot of people that do advertise on their car but why pay $$$ to do so. There is a shop on Etsy that I found that can do it for less. She does custom vinyl lettering promos for your car. Either for the window or for the side door of your car. I figure since I am in my car a lot , what better way to advertise my business. I am not one for handing out business cards to everyone I see. I feel this is very intrusive. I hate it when people to it to me and I just basically for the most part throw them away. I don't want people to think I am desprit for sales. So check out Nestlings. She also has some other great items there too. You will find the listing under "Vinyl lettering" to the left categories of the shop.

I'm So Addicted

Since I have come back from vacation, I have been making soap like crazy. I just finished two batches of soap in the past three days.

My latest batch is Rosemary Mint. Oh my does this smell awesome. This soap was made with real rosemary powder, peppermint powder and peppermint fragrance oil. I try not to use much artificial colors in my soaps so I like adding natural powders and herbs to color my soaps for a more natural look to them. I was going to go with the peppermint essential oil but some people have reactions to to peppermint essential oil so I just used the peppermint fragrance oil. It is a dark green in color but packs a wonderful rosemary peppermint punch. A great pick me up it the morning thats for sure.

The batch I just finished today is Caribbean Summer. This was actually my second batch as the first one was made for a customer. I just made another batch of this soap. This is a all veggies soap made from olive oil, soybean, cottonseed oil, coconut oil and it smell awesome. The color that was added is color specifically formulated for Cold Processed Soaps. It is a combination of Lemon, Orange, Mango, Pineapple. It has that tropical look and feel to it and can't wait to use both of these soaps

My Vacation

Well I enjoyed my much needed vacation. My son and I went to North Carolina for 4 days and it was very hot and humid the whole time we were there. I got to spend some time with my twin brother and my sister in law on Father's Day. I sure did pig out :-) but had some much needed rest. The drive there was very nice but coming back to this area was of course very busy. Where my brother and my mother live is very rural and not a very busy place at all. Sometimes her town seemed like a ghost town. You never saw anyone around. But I am glad to be back.

Not Just For Selling

This was my latest item that I bought on Etsy. This is from Midnight Creations. A cute little cell phone pouch. I sometimes hate having to carry my purse to go around the corner to pick up a few things so I just wanted something small for cash and for my cell phone. This is perfect! Great price and love the pattern. Can't wait to get this.

Etsy has been a excellent outlet for me as a buyer. Not only do I sell on Etsy but I also buy. There are some excellent sellers on Etsy that have awesome stuff. I wish I can just buy everything I want but that is not always a good thing. I buy when I see something that catches my eye or something that I need. The jewelry sellers on here are fantastic. I use to sell jewelry but I was a beginner at it and not very good compared to others I have seen. It just wasn't my calling. :-) Here are some of the items that I have bought from some of the Etsy sellers.

Handbags by Stilleto Check his line of handbags at very reasonable prices. Stilleto is located in Canada and shipping was about 7-10 business days to ship to the US.

This was bought this from Dragonflyfae Handmade Creations. I won a contest in her shop to pick out the best name for one of her dolls. My name was chosen. I was so flattered. She gave me a nice discount off this beautiful painting of hers. I love how this looks on my wall and it was very well packed when I received it. Check her shop out.

This is just the cutiest little bunny rabbit that I had to snatch him up. The shop where I got him from is called Cold Porcelain Designs Her hand sculpted figurines are awesome and in such great detail. You can't help but say awwwwww. Isn't he just a darling.

Closed For A Week June 16-June 25th

I am so bad when it comes to updating my blog. I am not much for ranting on and on about nothing, so I guess that is why I don't post that often. I am not even sure how many are even viewing my blog. :-)

I have pretty much have been working my butt off the past 2 months with my new additions to my product line. I have pretty much switched from Melt and Pour Soaps to handmade CP soaps (made from scratch). I am so addicted that I just can't stop. I have over 10 batches of wonderful soap just waiting. So I decided to take a week off and unwind and come back firing. Business has been a bit slow for me on Etsy. I think people actually expect me to come out with new items all the time and when they see the same items listed, they are turned off. But I can not come out with new items on a regular basis. Things take time, money and creativity to create new items. Especially when you are trying to do it from your own recipes. You want to perfect and test everything before it goes out to the general public.

So in closing (if anyone even reads this) that new soaps will be coming shortly. It think I pretty much beat a dead horse by repeating myself over and over again telling everyone about my new soaps. Please be patients as the time for curing is essential for me. The longer the bar cures the better. Pictures must be taking and that is very time consuming to especially when you have to edit them to make sure the lighting is good. Rome wasn't built in a day! :-) I promise you that you will not be disappointed with the results. Good things comes to those that wait.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and reading my updates. I will try to keep posting as often as possible. Again I am not much for rambling about the same ole things over and over again but I want to try to keep the readers who do read it informed and updated. I have read so many peoples blogs and I have to say they are quite boring. Not to put anyone down but some are so just rambling over and over again about their work. I think its great and should be proud of your work and alot of people may relate to it but I don't want to brow beat someone over their head about the same subject. I want to keep it up beat, funny and informative and interesting that will want you to come back for more.

Thanks so much and any comments would be appreciated. Please be nice and respectful.

Live simply. Love generously.

Care deeply. Speak kindly.

Leave the rest to God.
