My First Batch of Cold Processed Soaps
This is my first batch of Cold Processed Soaps. I am so very pleased that they came out ok. The color mixture is not all that great but tested them and they are just perfect. Full of rich thick lather and very creamy. This batch is made out of Palm oil, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil and Sodium Hydroxide (lye). As you can see from the picture some of the soaps are larger than some and the reason is because I used two different molds. The batch was large and had to accomodate the extra soap in another mold. :-) The scent that was added was Raspberry Vanilla. More Raspberry then vanilla LOL. But I am so very happy that I decided to branch out and do my own. Granted they aren't the best looking soaps but its REAL soap and its my very own creation. I will eventually get better over time but I didn't expect to make masterpieces on my first batch. I also tried the Hot Processed Method. This method you are actually cooking the soap in the oven and the cold processed soaps, the soap is being cooked while it is in your mold. So the cold process takes longer. I prefer this method better. The Hot Process method for is very gel like when you take it out of the oven looks pretty much like applesauce and harder for me to work with. Although my batch came out ok, it was much softer than the cold process recipe that I tried.:-)
Now as far as my Melt and Pour soaps, I will eventually stop making them. All my sliced soaps in my Etsy shop will be reduced in half to make room for my cold processed soaps. I will be giving out samples as soon as they are ready. You have no idea how happy that I don't have to depend on others for my soap and cost was crazy. I can make my own large batches. I will miss my melt and pour soaps but its just moving up and on to better and improved things.
