A New Yummy Recipe!!MMMMM

Image
OK I am not one for trying new recipes in fear of messing them up and having them come out all bad and just plain awful. But this recipe was so easy a kid could do it and it was so delicious. Very easy and low fat and low in calories and very tasty. The picture is my finished product that I had to share with ya. I would love it if anyone actually makes this and share the finish product with a comment. Here is the recipe.

Spanish Style Chicken Noodle Soup

Ingredients

* 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil or any oil
* 3 celery ribs, chopped
* 2 medium-size carrots, chopped
* 1 large onion, chopped
* 1 to 2 tablespoons (about a palmful) chili powder
* 1 bay leaf, use fresh if available
* Salt and freshly ground black pepper
* 1 1/2 quarts (6 cups) chicken stock (can substitute for chicken broth) I used chicken boullion and it was just as good.

* 1/2 pound orzo pasta ( can be substituted with rice) I tried the orzo which was very good

* 1 pound chicken tenders…

The New Year 2008

Image
Well another year has come and gone. Gosh it just seem like the year had just started and now it is almost over. This has been a very good year for me and for Pegasus Handmade Soaps. I am very proud of what I accomplished. Who said that hard work doesn't pay off? Certainly not me. I have put in long hours in creating products, coming up with unique recipes, unique soaps and it was a long road this year but I did it. Someone once told me that you if you put your mind into something you love to do, it don't matter how much you sell but that you just love what you do and eventually it will pay off. I can remember back when I started 3yrs ago just a idea and thought of doing my own soaps. I can't believe how far I have come since then. Just this past July I started making my own soaps from scratch. That was a challenge believe me. I have always been afraid to branch into making my own soaps for fear of using Lye but I had to do it if I ever what control of what goes into my s…

My Lip Balms are Featured this week.....

Image
How exciting is that! I am featured on a blog this week fro my Shea Butter Lip Balms. They are a big hit and so many people love them. So what is my favorite of my lip balms? For me, I like the Mega Melon, mmmm and I also enjoy using the Strawberry Banana mix. I also have Cucukoo for Coconut which is not much of a favorite but it can be. I am thinking of mixing the flavors to see what they taste like with the coconut.

But please stop by http://www.auntifranni.blogspot.com and check out her blog. She is such a lovely person and stop and read my feature for the week. Please leave a comment if you like. I would really like to see who has stopped by.

So exciting to have someone like your products and wanting everyone to see it. (sighs)

What's New for 2008!

Image
If you have been good in 2007, I have a few things for 2008. In coming new year I will have a new category for MEN. Yes out our deserve to be pampered and treated well too. Men usually have tougher skin then us women and we need to look after them as well. I will have some new facial toners, cooling aftershave lotions and gels for men and some a new mens line of soap. Men love to feel good and clean just like we do, they just hide and pretend that they are not into feeling clean and fresh. Of course they don't want to admit it they are men. But they do. So for you wonderful hard working men out there, we will cater to you bath and body needs as well. Keep a look out. :-)

10 days til Christmas

Image
Well it is getting closer and closer to Christmas and I only shopped for one person and that was my husband, who is so difficult to shop for. My son, I will see after Christmas so I can wait to shop for him then. He is very easy to shop for and likes just about anything I give him.

Well what do I have new for this week? I have some new soaps listed. ONly a few. I will be in the kitchen today making more soaps for January and lets hope they come out ok.

First on the list of new soaps, Clean Cotton. It has been up for a week or more and so far so good. It has a fresh clean scent with no colors added to this soap. I wanted this to be a clean fresh look to it as it smell great. It is made with all my great oils that will leave your skin feeling smooth and soft. This is a must try.

Next on the list is my new Pink Sugar Square Block Soaps. This was added earlier this week and I am excited about this soap. I have made numerous batches with this scent and they have all turned out brown. I mean …

I Believe

Image
I really love this and thought I share this with everyone

I Believe:

That our backgrounds and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

That no matter how good a friend is, she is going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive her for that.

That because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

That you should always leave loved ones with kind words. It may be the last time you see them.

That money is a lousy way to keep score.

That you either control your anger or it controls you.

That sometimes I have the right to be angry, but I never have the right to be cruel.

That it always isn't enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to forgive yourself.

That no matter how bad your heart is broken, the world won't stop for you.

That to love others with my whole heart I must first love…

How to Be Patient

Image
It has never been easy to be patient, but it's probably harder now than at any time in history. In a world in which messages can be sent across the world instantly, in which seemingly everything is available for immediate purchase with a few clicks of the mouse, it's hard not to always expect instant gratification. But patience remains a valuable tool in life. We don't always get instant gratification, and some of the best things in life require years of hard work and waiting. Fortunately, patience is a virtue that can be cultivated and nurtured.

People who are impatient are people who insist on getting things done now and don't like to waste time. However, some things just can't be rushed. Think about your happiest memories. Chances are, they were instances when your patience paid off, like when you worked steadily towards a goal that wasn't immediately gratifying, or took a little extra time to spend leisurely with a loved one. Would you have those memories if…

Feeling The Christmas Pressure

Image
This is can be a really tough time for everyone because of the stress and pressures to buy this time of the year. I know because I have felt the pressures too. But so many people in this country are going through some really tough times with money, losing their homes, medical problems, and just all around having it really bad. I have been feeling the pressures to buy Christmas gifts but for me Christmas is more about just buying gifts. Its spiritual day for many and a day to spend with family. We try not to focus so much on the pressures of gift giving but why this day is here. Christmas has become so commericalized over the years and people just need to stop and think about what you are spending, how much you are spending and why you are spending. Is it to impress the people you are buying for? To show people that you are not cheap and can give a gift even if you are broke and poor? Don't do it. Don't fall under the pressures of gift giving if you don't have it to give. P…

New and Improved Cocoa Butter Cream

Image
Ok if anyone of you have bought my Creamy Cocoa Butter Cream, you will know that it is awesome. (ok yes I am tooting my own horn) Well I hope everyone liked it who purchased it. Well I sort of accidently came across this version. I as making a batch of this cream and was watching TV at the same time (watching a football game) an I accidently mis measured the amount of cocoa butter. So when it finished it got really hard because we all know that cocoa butter is solid at room temperature. So I was stuck with a bad batch. So I just put it on my stock shelf and left it til I decided to come back to it again and figure out how I can use this for myself since I already made a new batch of the Creamy Cocoa Butter. It wasn't that hard but hard enough that it was NOT creamy LOL. So I stuck it in the microwave for a few seconds to warm it up a little and decided to whip out my mixer. Well the rest is history. I whipped out the blender and started to mix it and decided to put it on whip. I …

New Item At My Etsy Shop

Image
New size deodorant containers. Some customers have requested a larger size container and here they are. These containers are 1.8 oz size and hold a lot more than the mini samplers size. I wanted to see how well the deodorant bars do and size they went over pretty well from my website, I decided to add them to my Etsy shop and to the website as well. These deodorant bars are all natural and can be scented with all natural essential oils or can be scented with a popular fragrance oil. Please not that if scented with a fragrance oil, the deodorant bars are only about 98% natural. If you want to go all natural I suggest using the essential oils.

Just Reached MY 400 sale! WOW

Image
I am doing cartwheels right now. I was hoping by the end of they year I will reach 400 but I made it way before then. I am so pleased with myself. I can't believe that I made that many sales on Etsy. I know there are many other soap shops on Etsy to compete with but I guess my attitude is don't look at the other shops and see what they are doing as it will only discourage me. I had to focus on what I was doing and realize that there will always be other shops on Etsy that sell what I sell have more sales but I am not those other shops. I have to focus more on what I have to offer as a my own shop.

Ok just had to share that good news.

New Silky Body Powder 3 oz size

Image
I have a new size bottle for my Silky Body Powders. I as asked many of times if I can get these in a small travel size. Well your questions have been answered. These are really neat to have. I like the idea of carrying something smaller when we travel instead of taking the large size bottle which takes up a lot of room in my travel accessories bag. This Silky Body powder can be scented with the available scents I have listed in my Etsy shop and at my website. I haven't updates my website yet with these, but will soon have them available there.

Weekend Sales Figures

Image
Well not what I expected as I can not go any lower than what I am offering for my soaps. I was expecting to do a little better with the Mega Soap sale but it turned out to be less. But I am keeping my head up and moving on. I did get a few sales out of it but only one soap sale. I just thought it was a awesome deal but people just basically really don't like my soaps. I guess it doesn't matter how good they are for you, I am just thinking it because they are not fancy with swirls and bright colors and shapes. I like to be unique and have my soaps different for the same soap shops you see with the same square shape sizes and all the fancy swirls. Some people just prefer simple soaps without colors. But then again some just don't want to try something new and stick to the shops they are use to buying from. I completely understand.

I guess I miss spoke. I just got another sale on the soaps. A repeat customer just bought 8 of my soaps

As of January 1st of this year I will cut b…

Yeah Website is finished :-)

Image
Wow what load off my back. Here is a screen shot of the website. I really don't like having it down for any length of time. Customers will assume you don't sell anymore and I didn't want to lose any of my old website customers.

As much as I love editing my website and using html, it is really tiring. I pretty much did my entire website. Except for the design of the website but the colors, patterns, logo, heading, and everything else was done by me. I really didn't think I would get it finished but its is finally done.

What is new at the website?

Well we have easier to view the shopping cart. When you add items to your shopping cart, you can see how much is in your shopping cart. We also have view your recent order status online. This I love as you don't have to register to view and find out the status of your order. I really hate having to register at other website so I chose not to have this feature on mine.

I was a little hesitant about having a Guest Book but I de…

Website Update

I am working hard to get my website back up and running. I have recently switched to a new webhosting service and it takes a few days for them to get things up and running. Anyone who have switched services knows that it takes awhile to verify everything and get it going. But they are allowing me to start on it so that is what I have been up to the last few days til it is available. I am about halfway done as I had to redesign my logo and headings. New look and new pics along with a new webhosting service. Hopefully this will work out fine. Godaddy was good but I did not like how slow it was to update the website. Very slow. I even have broadband for my internet service and adding pictures and just basically doing any kind of routine updates was very slow so I had to leave and move to another.

For the time being my domain from my website is being forwarded to my Etsy shop so customers won't wonder where the heck did I go. LOL. It is very time consuming and I do all the work myself.…

What I Have Been Up To

Image
Well for the past month I have been working on some new soaps. Some didn't come out the way I wanted them to come out and some did. Again it is a work in progress. I have only been making my soaps from scratch since this past May 07 so I am still quite new at this. I have been working on new labels for my products. Yes I can just easily have someone do them for me, but I like the fact that I can do things myself and show some creativity. Trust me I am one that has no since of creativity at all. Very bland and boring to say the least but I try. I am not very good at a lot of things and I don't expect to be. Some people have it and some don't and my way of thinking is the only way to get to know if you are good at something is to actually do it. If you had asked me 3 yrs ago will I be making my own soaps from scratch and having a website and multiple places on the internet selling, I would have laughed in their faces. I just want to make people happy with what I make and be…

Know Your Soaps

Here are some interesting facts about the soaps you buy in the store. I hope you find this important information. A educated consumer is our best customer :-)

Once in awhile you see a soap like product that does have an add natural ingredients, but they are added in such small quantites to make the consumer think they are buying a wonderful product. But in reality they do not add enough to make a difference, they only add just enough of the product to legally put it on the label, and the product still contains an extreme high percent of synthetic products. A good example of this is shea butter.
If you need further proof of this here is the list of ingredients that are found in a bar of the brand name “Dove”® beauty bar. A product that most people believe to be mild and gentle to the skin. Gentle enough to be used by people of all ages from babies to the elderly. In fact when my middle child was born, this is the soap that that particular hospital used on the babies in the newborn nurser…

Frequently Asked Question?

Image
I was recently talking to a long time customer of mine that has bought from me since day one and she loves my products but didn't know much about me. (ok ok I had to throw that in there) but she wanted to know how I got started with my bath and body products.

So I thought I put some FAQ's that some may want to ask but haven't :-)

Where am I from?

Well I am originally from NJ born and raised til HS and moved to Philadelphia right out of HS. I attended Temple for a short time and Computer training school for a year. I recently moved from Philadelphia after living there for 15yrs and I am currently in Northern VA with my husband who has been so supportive with my decision to do this. He is the best!

How did I get started?

Well I started looking into homemade bath and body products in late 2004. I was buying some products online from bath and body shops. Some of the stuff was sticky, oily, and loaded with the same stuff you buy in the markets. So I decided to look into making my p…

Creative Funk

Image
Have you ever been in a creative funk? Meaning have you there been times when you just feel like you just can't be creative. I have so many ideas but can't seem to get them going. I try so hard not to have my items resemble anyone elses and try to be unique to reflect my own personality. I have so many things I want to do and so little time to do them. There are times where I am up all night trying to find new ideas and then I get on myself for not coming up for anything. I feel that I am not very creative and begin to be very hard on myself for trying to hard and coming up empty.

I just recently did a search on Etsy to see if my items will even come up in search.Just curious. I was wondering why sales for me have completely shut down on Etsy. I am at 347 and things have been going great and NOTHING. I can't understand what happened. When I did the search for soap, every store that was on the front page were shops that were the top selling shop at Etsy! Shop that had over …

Homemade Soap is NOT Lye Soap

Image
Well it is but it isn't. Homemade soap is just made with lye but it is not overall LYE soap If it was Lye soap it would burn your skin. There seems to be a big misconception about homemade soap.
I was by a friend last night about my soaps and she assumed again that homemade soaps are hard and are drying to the skin. I asked her "have you ever tried homemade soaps" her reply No. Well then how do you know it will dry your skin. She went on to reply "doesn't all soap dry your skin out". I just told her that for one you need to read up on homemade soaps and actually try using it and then use store bought soaps to compare the difference, then you can make a smart choice and decide which is better.

The most popular soapmaking processes today is the cold process method, where fats such as olive oil react with lye. Soapmakers sometimes use the melt and pour process, where a premade soap base is melted and poured in individual molds. Some soapers also practice othe…

New Purchase From Etsy

Image
Ok so I caved in and bought something from Etsy. I am not much for buying stuff for myself but this shop has the most beautiful pendants I have ever seen. This pendant has a beautiful deep blue (which is my favorite color) and has a deep green dancing dolphin in it. I just couldn't resist buying this. It the color was this vibrant in the photo, I can't imagine what it will look like when I get this. I just had to tell you about this shop. I will definitely come back for more of their lovely pendants. Check out this wonderful shop ArtisticDetour at Etsy

My Whipped Parfait Ice Cream Soap

Image
My famous Whipped Parfait Ice Cream Soap has been one of my most popular items to date. I have been asked numerous times to wholesale these soaps. I make these soaps from scratch per order and the process takes a long time to make. I do make these soaps in small batches, but the process is very long. To make 3 containers takes about 45 minutes to an hour to make. Mainly because the soap gets whipped three times its size and then has to be cooled. (now I can't give you detail by detail on how I make it) but I can give you an idea the process I go through to make it.

This is how the soap looks after I have mixed and whipped for about 10 minutes. The batch get so fluffy that I have to separate the soap into two containers. This one of the containers. This still needs to sit and cool a bit. The soap is still a little warm. I have to whipped this til it gets a fluffy light soap.

This photo is one of the separated batches that I began whipping again after it has cooled a bit. Ok my arms a…

New Soaps Are Here!

Image
I am slowly adding new soaps to my product line. These soaps have been curing for about 4 weeks and they are now ready for your skin. There are people that have misconceptions about using soap. Some think that soap will dry your skin out, get hard and yukky and just not something they want to use on their skin. But homemade soaps are not the same as store bought soaps in the stores. Store bought soaps are loaded with detergents. They are not even classified as soap but beauty bars or detergent bars. There really is no comparison. Homemade soaps are loaded with natural quality oils and will hydrate you skin. Trust me I have had misconceptions about homemade soaps myself. I use to use body washes to avoid using bar soaps. But once I started making my own soaps from scratch, I have had different opinion about soaps.

So check these out. My Orange Tea Tree soap is not the best picture in my batch and I will be redoing that photo again. But this soap is made with 100% all natural ingredient…

Thought Of The Day 10-2-2007

People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest person with the biggest ideas can be
shot down by the smallest person with the smallest mind.
Think big anyway.
What you spend years building may
be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack if you help them.
Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have
and you might get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

A Positive Message

Image
Seven Positive Reflections on Body Image

1. Find your gratitude. Thank your body for serving you. Start with your feet, look at them and recognize how much walking they have done for you, then your legs which have carried you for so long. Experiment with other parts of the body. Later you might enquire about programs that help you to develop a peaceful relationship with your body and yourself, ie meditation, tai chi, qi gong and gentle styles of yoga.

2. Find your humor. There is nothing like a good laugh to relax the mind and nourish the nervous system. Hire a comedy video with a friend or go to a funny show. Take a risk, do something silly like dancing naked until you fall down laughing.

3. Start the day in a positive way. This of the good things in your life instead of the bad things that are going on in your life. When waking, think about two pleasant things that might await you. End each night by giving thanks for three things (people, pe…

Goals

You know time doesn't wait for anyone and I want to be able to set goals for myself but at times it seems very hard to do. I have decided long time ago that setting goals for myself would not be the thing to do. Mainly because of fear of not reaching those goals and being disappointed and giving up. In the past I have set goals and never reached them and became very disappointed and eventually I did give up. I am not saying that people shouldn't set goals for themselves. It probably isn’t very realistic for a person who is currently making $20,000 a year to set a goal of making $1,000,000 next year. Ok that is a bit unrealistic but there have been people have gone from rags to riches so I should say that is unrealistic. But it is important that the goals you set are YOUR goals and not those of someone else. I see this so many times when people set their goals in comparison to someone else life. Competing is never a good thing to do. Especially when you are competing with a…

Old and New Items

Image
I just listed some new items on Etsy and on my Website. Stop on by and take a look. Some of the old items that were just recently listed have been temporarily discontinued during the warm summer months due to possible melting issues but they are back now that the weather is getting cooler and less chance of any melting problems.

BathTime Soap Jelly

This is just the coolest soap ever. It has the consistency of a jelly but soft and it is made out of soap. It has so many good stuff in it. Very gentle and it feels great and kids will love this too. This can be scented any way you like and it will be made to order. This does have a preservative added to make it last a little longer. It can be placed in the fridge or in a cool area. If placed in the fridge, you may want to take it out at least an hour prior to using so it won't be so cold. This jelly should last you up to 4 weeks. But you will definitely use this up before then. It is so much fun to use. A color sponge is inc…
